Scrapping Doubles

Having another kid around the house, especially one as crazy active as Blue, has put a cramp in my scrapping time. So last year, when I was still trying to keep up with scrapping, I discovered a simple way to get two layouts done in only a few minutes more time that doing just one. I print up the same picture , or two similar ones, in the same size. Use basically the same layout and just vary the colors and embellishments.  Super simple, super fast, super cute.

I'm Alive!!

So, it's been a while. And by a while, I mean a seriously long time. I had promised to be back in a month. But that obviously didn't happen. I had promised myself to keep scrapping. That didn't happen either. I barely made it through my Project Life last year. I barely made it through last year.
Things got hectic. Blue got crazy. Anna got too smart. Our house got broken into. I had surgery. Holidays came and went. Robert started school. I took classes to renew my teaching certificate.  I've started studying for my Latin certification exam. Basically, I just got tired.
But when the house got broken into and my cameras got stolen and I realized I hadn't uploaded four months worth of pictures, I started to realize how much I needed to scrapbook. Not just because of the creative part of it, but the fact that the only way I'm ever going to do anything other than hide those pictures on my camera is to scrap them. So many memories disappeared with that camera. So many things I don't remember because I rely on pictures to bring back memories.
So I forced myself to do Project Life again this year. I'm not always going to do a 2 page spread per week. In fact, only the last two weeks have been a 2 pager. (It took me a while to get back into the swing of it and find the enjoyment of doing it.)
And so far this year, I've done exactly two layouts. One for each kiddo. But I want to do more. My goal is only one per kid per month. And I'm working with the Double Scrapping method I've decided to stick with. I had done it a couple of times since Blue has been around. It's when I use basically the same picture and same layout style for each kid, but differ the colors and embellishments to fit either a boy or girl. Super simple way to get two things done quickly. I'll post a few examples tomorrow of past layouts.

So those are my goals - keep up with Project Life and create at least 2 standard layouts per month. And you my blog friends, have to keep me accountable. :)

It's Summer!

Well, it's not quite summer yet, but it's felt like summer for about 1.5 months down here. And luckily, Practical Scrappers has all kinds of inspiration for summer themed layouts on the website today.
I scrapped a picture of my daughter posing it up in her new bathing suit purchased exclusively for Splash Day at school. And see those shiny pink earrings? She just so happened to change into them without me having to bully her into it. Granted, Splash Day was about a month ago, but like I've said - it's been an unofficial summer around here for quite some time now.

Don't forget to head over to Practical Scrappers. I promise that you'll find something to inspire you!

Unplugging.

I'm taking the month of June off from my blog. Between art camp, drama camp, school camp, and trekking everyone to the gym 5 days a week, I can't keep up. And blogging isn't fun for me anymore. So, I'm taking some time off. There are still posts scheduled to go up when I have things featured at Practical Scrapper, but other than that, I'm not even going to think about the blog.
I'm going to take this month to enjoy the summer, plan a big first birthday party, lose the last of the baby weight (ha!), and wear Anna out enough every day that she goes to bed by 7:30 (another Ha!).
So, I'll see you in July!

Frugal Finds

Practical Scrappers has a great feature where they pick a common object you probably have lying around your house and challenge you to use it in a scrappy way. This challenge was to use up those mesh bags you have somewhere in your kitchen. We eat those tiny seedless oranges like maniacs at my house, so I knew that is what I would use. And lo and behold, I had a picture of Anna eating one of those oranges!
I cut out part of the bag around the label and used both under my photos. I then laid a scrap piece on the corner and misted. I'm still struggling with misting, but oh well. It works.
Make sure to check out how the rest of the designers used mesh bags in their projects. There is always such great inspiration!

What Week is This?

I have absolutely no clue what week this is. I'm sure I could figure it out, but I'm too lazy at the moment. Lighting last night was really bad, so for now I only have a few close ups of my project life for last week.

I always forget to use my Instax camera, so when I do I make sure to include the pictures. Anna wanted this one, but I snuck it away from her.

Don't you love the facebook card? It came in a set of four and I downloaded it from Wild Blueberry Ink.

At Ten Months:

He has eight teeth.
He puts those teeth to good use.
He says Mama, Dada, Anna, and Bye bye.
He just learned to wave.
He walks everywhere.
He tries to run, but really only takes faster, shorter steps.
He needs a haircut. Bad.
He loves babies.
He loves poking babies's eyes.
He sleeps from 8:00ish to 5:45.
He takes two naps a day.
He loves people .
He's a charmer.
