One of these days.

One of these days I will get back to regular posting. I promise. I have a list of excuses as to why I haven't been posting - kitchen redo (still ongoing), a kid with measles, another kid that is having the same first symptoms (although she has been vaccinated), company (had a blast), and just flat out tiredness (does that ever go away?).
My project life is still going - but a little behind. I'm finishing up printing out the pictures for the past two weeks and will worry about the details later.

And because I need some pictures, here's one of Anna holding a snake (did I ever tell you about her love of snakes?) and one of Blue standing up. He's so proud of himself.

Project Life Week 9

I'm trying to catch up. I may even get there this week. I hate being behind because I'm not the greatest at taking notes throughout the week. So by the time I sat down to do this week, I couldn't remember too much. Hence all the pictures and not much journaling.

Easter is Coming

Yesterday was Easter card day over at Practical Scrappers, and while I am so not a card maker, I decided to give it a whirl. It helped that I had some Easter egg paper left over that I could just throw on there. Instant Easter.
I did cut out one of the little chicks and pop dot in onto the card after layering some glaze over it. You can't really see it in the picture, but it gives it a little oomph.

Taking a Break

We have company in town for Spring Break, so I will continue to have a little break from the blog for the rest of the week.
See you soon!

Project Life Week 8

Another week done! I am still one week behind, but I'm good with it. Little Blue caught what the doctors think to be a mild case of measles (he wasn't old enough for his immunization yet) so I've done nothing but cuddle him for the past 5 days. And during this time I have discovered that there isn't a darn thing on tv worth watching during the day. And that Blue really likes to tear the pages of my Game of Thrones book.
So anyhow, here's the layout done in bits and pieces throughout the sick week at my house.

I have an Instax Mini and always forget to use it, obviously. It was week 8 of the year before I ever pulled it out. But I did finally and I like the contrast it gives to the album. I'm getting bored with my camera pictures because they are always so grainy when I print them out at 3x4.
I've also noticed that red seems to be a recurring color in my album. I'm not sure why, because I really don't like red, but it looks like I'm going to need to stock up on some more red things, just in case.

Link With Love Blog Hop

Welcome to the Practical Scrappers "Linking with Love" Blog Hop!  We believe it is important to always give credit when it is due to another crafter.  For this unique hop all of our design team members used the same inspiration piece to create their project.  Each of them will make an example of themselves as to how to properly "Link with Love" and credit the inspiration.  We'll be running the hop thru Noon EST on Sunday - so you have plenty of time to get thru it!

Liz Qualman created this beautiful layout and we have all used it for inspiration.  Each of us will tell what part we took our inspiration from.  The whole hop will culminate at Liz's blog where she'll provide us with a new sketch for inspiration.

Many of the designers are providing prizes at their stop and Practical Scrappers is providing a prize for one person who becomes a follower at each stop (for all the details head over to Practical Scrappers).
Now for my inspired layout.

I know at first glance, my layout doesn't seem to have much in common with Liz's. But a closer look shows that I was inspired by quite a few ideas. I loved all of Liz's circles and knew I wanted to do something with that. Thinking about those circles started me thinking about one big circle, which ended up being made by lots of little circles. I very rarely use circles in my layouts, so this was definitely inspired. I still wanted to have a little of the scalloped edge feel, so I used a border punch to make a strip of scallops for under my photo. I'm a butterfly lover, so seeing those made me have to throw a few on my layout. And with a title like "Sparkle," the rhinestones that Liz used worked perfectly on my layout. And while I didn't use as many flags on my LO as Liz did, hers were definitely the inspiration for mine.

So, you want to win a little stash of scrapbooking goodies? Leave me a comment and let me know who is a big source of inspiration for you in your crafting hobby. The winner will be randomly chosen Monday, so make sure to check back.

Now head over to Carolina's blog to see what she did with Liz's inspiration piece!
